Build Season Lunches
Please help keep our team fed during the build season!
During the six weeks of the robot build season (through mid-February), the students and mentors will be meeting on Saturdays and Sundays at Lyme-Old Lyme High School. These are long days and teenagers (and mentos!) get hungry. Experience has shown a lot of time is lost if lunch orders are taken and someone goes out to fill the order. Even more time is lost if students leave the school to obtain lunch. The time available to build a robot is limited at best so the team has traditionally served a group lunch, with parents providing lunch for the students and mentors.
We would like to continue that effort this year and we need three parents to sign up for each lunch. To sign up, please visit Signup.com (http://signup.com/go/WOQHfAz) or contact Liz Frankel (email@example.com) or Jeannean Cheney (firstname.lastname@example.org). For more details, see below.
As all students will benefit from this service, we are counting on all families to coordinate with two other families to provide one lunch during the build season, either by contributing food or a monetary donation so that we can purchase food.
Thank you in advance!
How do I sign up? Visit Signup.com (http://signup.com/go/WOQHfAz) or contact Liz Frankel (email@example.com) or Jeannean Cheney (firstname.lastname@example.org). Please continue to check back with the signup – as we build menus volunteers will be asking for contributions of specific items.
How many volunteers for each day? We are looking for three volunteers per day.
How many students are we serving? Three volunteers should plan to provide lunch, beverages, and dessert for about 50 people.
What should I serve?: Anything that you can easily transport from your house. If you don’t know what to make, see our menu suggestions listed below, or just ask Liz and Jeannean. Please note in the comments on the signup what you are bringing so others know and can plan so they don’t have the same thing every lunch.
Are there dietary restrictions? NO NUTS, GLUTEN FREE & VEGETARIAN OPTIONS ARE APPRECIATED.
When should I be there? On Saturdays, lunch is served at noon so plan to be there from 11:30 am to 12:30 or 1 pm. On Sundays, lunch is served at 1 pm so plan to be there from 12:30 to 1:30 or 2 pm.
What else to I need to do? You will set up in the commons and be on hand to serve. Afterwards, leave the tables down so that the custodians can clean them. Feel free to leave any drinks or snacks in the shop, but you can take leftovers home.
Should I bring paper goods?: Donations are always welcome, but there are usually paper plates, bowls, napkins, and plastic utensils in the closet off of Mr. Goss’s room in the shop.
